“‘[Revere thy parents;] yet should they endeavour to make thee ascribe divinity, side by side with Me, to something which thy mind cannot accept [as divine], obey them not; but [even then] bear them company in this world’s life with kindness, and follow the path of those who turn towards Me. In the end, unto Me you all must return; and thereupon I shall make you [truly] understand all that you were doing [in life].’

But if they strive with thee to make thee associate with Me that whereof thou hast no knowledge, then do not obey them. Keep them company honourable in this world; but follow the way of him who turns to Me. Then unto Me you shall return, and I shall tell you what you were doing.'

وَإِن جَـٰهَدَاكَ عَلَىٰۤ أَن تُشۡرِكَ بِی مَا لَیۡسَ لَكَ بِهِۦ عِلۡمࣱ فَلَا تُطِعۡهُمَاۖ وَصَاحِبۡهُمَا فِی ٱلدُّنۡیَا مَعۡرُوفࣰاۖ وَٱتَّبِعۡ سَبِیلَ مَنۡ أَنَابَ إِلَیَّۚ ثُمَّ إِلَیَّ مَرۡجِعُكُمۡ فَأُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ ١٥
Transliteration (2021)
wa-in jāhadāka ʿalā an tush'rika bī mā laysa laka bihi ʿil'mun falā tuṭiʿ'humā waṣāḥib'humā fī l-dun'yā maʿrūfan wa-ittabiʿ sabīla man anāba ilayya thumma ilayya marjiʿukum fa-unabbi-ukum bimā kuntum taʿmalūn
